It’s fascinating how the universe works.
I was today having my own internal debate/struggle with the “B” word. When, if ever, is it okay to call a woman a bitch? What is the history behind the word? The word bitch is so regularly used in society that for some, there is no sting; for others it burns deep.
Wherever you stand on the “B” word, I’ve tagged you in this note because I’m sure that having some ignant (which is slang for ig-nor-ant) fool call Michelle Obama a bitch isn’t acceptable to us as people, no matter our gender. She IS our First Lady after all.
From the Oxford English Dictionary:
1.a. The female of the dog.
b. The female of the fox, wolf, and occasionally of other beasts; usually in combination with the name of the species. (Also as in sense 2.)
2. a. Applied opprobriously to a woman; strictly, a lewd or sensual woman. In mod. use, esp. a malicious or treacherous woman; of things: something outstandingly difficult or unpleasant. (See also son of a bitch.)
It was during my internal “bitch” debate that this little tidbit came across my email. For your consideration:

Burt Prelutsky was a TV writer a long time ago. Then he aged out of it and became a crank. This wasn’t one of those major loses like Steinbeck. Now he writes a column for Townhall.com, the popular website owned by a Christian radio network.
Here’s something from his current offering:
*Take Michelle Obama…please. Every time I turn around, there she is on a magazine cover. Now, normally, like the Mafia, I lay off the spouses, but inasmuch as this particular spouse attended the same racist church as her hubby for 20 years, I’ll make an exception in her case. After all, in spite of the fact that affirmative action got her an Ivy League degree and a $7,000-a-week salary and, moreover, has sent billions of dollars for no particularly good reason to Africa, she insists this is a mean country. The burning question in my circle is: if the First Family gets a female dog, will she be the First Bitch or will she have to settle for second place?*
Get it? Because “bitch” had two meanings!
Ah, Christian-sponsored humor. That’s not just funny. That’s Jesus funny.
Weird that Burt Prelutsky doesn’t work more. Because that “take my wife… please” bit is also pure dynamite. Must be ageism.
*Naturally, the left-wing media is now trying to convince us that this James Brown-look-alike has all the allure, glamour and fashion sense of Jackie Kennedy.*
She’s not pretty, for heaven’s sakes! She’s black! She’s a black bitch!

(Who have all, by the way, written about Barack Obama’s horrible, shocking association with that racist hatemonger Jeremiah Wright. Who called America an ugly black bitch. Oh wait, he didn’t.)

If you read Burt Prelutsky’s columns, you’ll see that he isn’t a racist; he just has a lot of thoughts — I mean a lot — about how black people should behave. If Langston Hughes had talked about black people as much at Burt Prelutsky does, someone would have told him to sit down.
Here’s another Burt Prelutsky column from Townhall:
*If we were a racist society, Oprah Winfrey, your fairy godmother, certainly wouldn’t be a billionaire; she’d be fetching someone’s mint julep. Now, if there’s one thing I hate worse that playing gotcha with a joke that goes wrong, it’s using guilt-by-association and high dudgeon to score cheap political points. But I gotta ask:
Should we hope Hugh Hewitt apologizes for publishing sad old Burt Prelutsky?
How should he make good?
Oh, the Christian broadcasters who own Townhall, the site that says Michelle Obama is a bitch and Will Smith is lucky he’s not picking cotton is Salem Communications. You can thank them here.

I would urge you to use the link to send a message about Burt Prelutsky’s opinion that our First Lady is a bitch- it’s disgusting for him to push that she has done nothing with her life except cheat hard working whites out of their rightful place in school or the work force as a quota, and that she is nothing more than a bitch. He should not be able to say that without hearing from people like you and me.
And to the question at hand- when, if ever, is it acceptable to call a woman a bitch- let alone the First Lady? Share your thoughts…

Geez, Prelutsky should get a clue. If we DIDN’T have pervasive racism in this society, no one would be paying him to write this crap.

I am just getting caught up on your blog after, ironically, spending some time in DC, where people are practically dancing in the streets because of the remarkable family who have taken up residence in “the people’s house.” Will now go send a note to that Prelutsky fella.
I want to know if or when an apology will be given to the public for those vicious comments Prelutsky made against Michelle Obama? We don’t have to like everything the President does but to lambaste his wife and refer to the mother of his children as a black bitch is reprehensible!!! Who is this man that can get away with this? , I am outraged that a columnist for Townhall can get away with calling a black woman a black bitch, comparing her to the house dog and trying to say her education was not earned. What is amazing is that not only is she a black woman but she is the “First Lady” of the United States! I wonder what type of woman raised a son who can disrespect and slander women in such a way? Only a scary man can make these disgusting comments without any concern for others.
I read all of Mr. Prelutskys’ credits and yes, he is more than “well rounded”, he has hob knobbed with the best, ( I must mention that I did not see one black person listed on his list of accolades) nonetheless, big deal! There is such a thing as decency. I am an African American but I am not respecter of persons. I do not believe color necessarily means connection, so I don’t want you to get the idea that I am offended only because Michelle Obama is black. I would have been just as outrage if they referred to Hilary Clinton, Barbara Bush, my mother or any other woman in such a way. And to do it publicly is even more sickening! There is a certain level of respect the office of President of the United States deserves and his wife is to be treated accordingly. I understand that Townhall is a paper of opinion, Well some people need to keep their opinions to themselves! With all the books Mr. Prelutsky has written, I am sure he could have found a number of words to show his disgust for the Obama family. but I thought Black Bitch was reserved for all the white trash teenagers like the ones I grew up with. (They were the only ones, besides Mr. Prelutsky I’ve ever heard refer to a black woman in such a way.)
