Michael Steele Plays Race Card- Then Takes It Back

*facepalm*

It’s official.  Michael Steele is the Black, male Sarah Palin of the Republican Party.  This guy… *deep, cleansing breath* is always talking out of the side of his neck.

He must have a neck-talking quota, because even when there’s really nothing going on, he’s stirring stuff up for the sake of hearing himself talk.

Like Palin, he embodies self-important:

From CBS News:

In an interview with Washingtonian magazine excerpted on the Plum Line, Steele says he doesn’t “see stories about the internal operations of the DNC that I see about this operation.”

“Why? Is it because Michael Steele is the chairman, or is it because a black man is chairman?” he asks.

In the other portion of the story posted, Steele says he is prone to taking things too far. “And I get checked on that, just as when I was a young boy and I pushed the envelope too far and my Mama was there to check me,” he says.

Soooo…in one sentence, it’s everyone else’s fault the RNC get’s so much criticism, yet in the next- he’s prone to going to far in his role as Chair of the RNC.  Uhhh… I’m confused, so which is it, is the media racist or is the media just reporting how his habit of “going to far” effects the inner-workings of the RNC?

Update: Asked about the comment, Steele told ABC News: “It’s not because of my race, but race is more of a factor than it ordinarily would be — just as it is for Barack Obama.”

Hmmm… you see those Sarah Palin tendencies tucked in there?  Her double speak?  Did he really just say it’s not because of his race, but race is more of a factor?  And then he played the Obama card too?  We’re supposed to liken him to Obama because…they’re both Black men?

I’m not even sure on what level this man’s mind is working.

I have never considered Obama and Steele to be anything alike- because they’re not.  They’re stories are not the same, their temperaments are not the same- nothing about them is the same- they are two completely different individuals in two completely different situations.

And lest we forget that all of this is an aside to the fact that Michael Steele has ruffled every feather imaginable over at the RNC with his antics- I mean, leadership style.  Those are well documented fact.  Maybe if he didn’t act like such as moron all the time, the media would stop reporting on his asinine ways.
