Fritzl children have a wish list

Elisabeth Fritzl, 42, and her sons Stefan, 18, and Felix created the poster with the help of their newly discovered brothers and sisters Lisa, 16, Monika, 14, and Alexander, 12.

Until three weeks ago, the two sets of siblings were unaware of each other’s existence as sadistic Josef Fritzl kept Stefan and Felix in the windowless cellar where he repeatedly raped his captive daughter Elisabeth for 24 years.

The poster features Stefan’s and Felix’s handprints, inside which are their emotional messages containing their wishes for the future.

A heart shape marks their sister Kerstin, whose admission to hospital on April 19 sparked the unravelling of Fritzl’s secret world.

Stefan wrote: “I miss my sister. Am enjoying freedom and my family. Like the sun, fresh air and nature.”

Alexander wrote: “I wish for freedom, power and strength, and the sun. I miss Fire Brigade (an Austrian youth group), school and my sister Kerstin.”

Lisa wrote: “Wishes: health, that everything goes well, love, happiness. Misses Kerstin, school, friends, fresh air, Class 1C.”

Monika wrote: “Wishes: that Kerstin gets better, lots of love, that everything is soon past. Misses: fire-brigade, music school, friends, school, Kerstin.

Felix wrote: “(Misses:) Sleigh rides, driving in a car, playing ball, swimming. Playing with other children, friendship, running in meadows.”

Elisabeth and mother Rosemarie, 68 – who had no idea of the horror her husband, 73, had created – also added their words and handprints.

The message which encircles the handprints reads: “We, the whole family, would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your sympathy for our fate.

“Your compassion is really helping us get through this difficult time and shows us that there are good people out there.”
