This “filthy money” notion bewilders me. Money is fungible, which means that your money is exactly like my money, and if I lose my money and get more money, it’s exactly like the old money. There is no “bad” money or “good” money. The money she gets from Josef (probably none, but that’s not my point) looks, feels, and behaves exactly like the money she gets from you or me or the Austrian government.

One hears this concept with regard to child support, death settlements (but not insurance), and money earned illegally by someone else which has come into your possession legitimately. The bottom line seems to be, “good” people should remain impoverished, and “bad” people should keep and enjoy their money.

Let me suggest, instead, that nothing cleans dirty money like passing through the hands of a deserving recipient.

In general, by the way, the merit of rejecting “bad” money is most obvious to one when the person being advised to decline the money is not oneself.

All cheers to Elisabeth for contemplating suing her bastard, monster, evil, sick, sadistic, devilish father. Elisabeth should get as much from her father as she can, though it will hardly make up for the wasted years of her life. As for Joseph Fritzl, I say this: Tear down and make an absolute ruin of everything that is his. Tear down and demolish his life and everything that is otherwise connected to him. Burn it, trash it, rip it, shred it, and ruin it — that is, whatever Elisabeth doesn’t get first. May everything that Joseph ever did within this world be cursed.
