February 10, 2010A 15-year-old girl was charged today with robbery in the first degree for the brutal beating of a 15-year-old girl in the Metro bus tunnel in Seattle on January 28th. Three other youths ranging in age from 18 to 20 have also been charged with robbery in the first degree for their alleged involvement in the incident which was captured on security surveillance video.
The 15-year-old defendant faces a standard range sentence of 103 to 129 weeks in juvenile detention. Under state law, she is required to remain in the juvenile court system and cannot face adult prosecution. Two of the adult defendants, Latroy D. Hayman, 20, and Domanique L. Whitaker, 18, each face a sentence of 31 to 41 months in prison, and the third adult defendant, Tyrone J. Watson, 18, faces a sentence of 36 to 48 months in prison. The juvenile defendant remains in detention pending arraignment on February 11th at 8:30 a.m. in Juvenile Court. The three adult defendants are being held in the King County Jail on $100,000 bail and will be arraigned on February 24th at 8:30 a.m. in the King County Courthouse, courtroom 1201.
