In June 2007 the Supreme Court ruled that the Seattle Public Schools could no longer use race as a tie-breaker in deciding where students attend school. This school year, under the leadership of a new Superintendent, the district is outlining a new plan for determining school assignments. UPDATE: Wed. April 16: At 10am today, the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear argument in Kennedy v. Louisiana (07-343), the highly-anticipated case examining the constitutionality of imposing the death penalty for child rape.

Never before has the death pentality been used to punish rapists; if Louisiana has anything to say about it, a local Black man could be the first (and pave the way for many more)…
